MEET Lesley
"Defying the Odds By Being Pretty and Sick"
Lesley's goal has always been to break down the stigmas and stereotypes surrounding chronic illness especially as a brown skin woman and show that you can still be "pretty" and still be "sick," it's not a one-size-fits-all experience, and she's aimed to continue to bring awareness to that.
In her previous role as owner and Editor-in-Chief in partnership with her twin sister of Fashionably Advantaged Magazine also known as F.A.M she utilized her platform to educate the world about what it truly meant to live life with disabilities. Enlightening and speaking up for youth and young adults while focusing on the fashion, beauty, entertainment, health, and education and helping society to see that those with disabilities are capable of accomplishing success in those fields just as those without disabilities.
During her run with Fashionably Advantage Magazine Lesley received many recognitions for her involvement in the community including having the privilege to be keynote speaker at the 2012 Prince George's County Maryland Department of Family Services Mental Health and Disabilities Division and the Commission for Individuals with disabilities Luncheon. Lesley also received the award during National Disability Employment Awareness Month for her advocacy and ability to assist individuals with disabilities with opportunities to lead independent lives.
Today through her P.S. Pretty Sick platform she provides resources, education, and empowerment for those who may feel misunderstood or overlooked because of their invisible, chronic, autoimmune illnesses and disabilities. She continues to create a platform for open, safe, and honest conversations about the challenges and triumphs of living with chronic illness.
Her hope is that through her advocacy work, she can inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and find strength in their struggles. She wants to show that beauty and illness are not mutually exclusive and that we are all worthy of love, support, and understanding. Together, we can change the narrative and break down barriers for those living with autoimmune, chronic, invisible illnesses and disabilities.
"Because simply put we don't have to look like our illnesses.
Defy the odds, break the mold and show the world that
You're Pretty Sick in the most amazing way!"

Sincerely, Love Les
